Has anyone got any information on three brothers from the Gould family, here is what I have so far:
Stanley Gould Born 1891 in New Mills Joined two Regiments: 1914 Kings Royal Rifle Corps No:1508 and The Northumberland Fisliers No:1802 (Pensioned off, was involved in the 1916 Uprising in N.I got shot in the foot I think)
Frederick Gould Born 1894 in New Mills Joined the Lancashire Fusiliers No 8404 and then the York & Lancaster Regiment No:20365
1911 they moved from Hyde to 18 Wellington Street and their parents lived and died in the area living for a long time at 22 Energy Street (Anyone know where exactly that was in relation to Wellington street (where I was born in 1951) as I can't remember. My Mum's mum was Ann Ellen Moores nee Nicholls nee Gould and she lived around the Whit Lane area all her life. After her first husband Charles Nicholls of the Lancashire Fusiliers died on the Somme in 1916 she met and married:
George Gould (the above's brother) Born 1897 in St John's Street Hyde Cheshire after his family moved from New Mills. As far as I can ascertain he joined the Kings Own Scottish Borders No: 7331 that's as much as I know about him except I remember he had a stiff leg, didn't know he was my step-granddad until I found C. Nicholls so as you can imagine I never asked any questions.
I have asked about him before but I assumed he was from Salford and then found out he wasn't so I thought I would ask again as I now know where he was born.
Another question is have is about Charles Nicholl's Snr Reg No: 37643 - Does anyone know of the whereabouts of a memorial that was on Whit Lane with his name on? I recently found my cousin, who says her dad Charles Nicholl's Jnr (born 1917, a decorated Marine Commando) used to show her.
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm making headway slowly
