I was born 1952 at Hope first Lived with my parents and paternal Grandparents 21 Wetherall st Higher Broughton Salford 7 The only realative I knew anything about was my maternal Grandad Harold Wright always spoke about was his elder brother William Joseph Wright died 21st October 1917 lots of my family both side served in the great war but the only one I knew about or where he was William. Grandad said he was going to visit never did.I researched found him in the reservoir cemetary Ypres visited 2 years ago its 98 years tomorrow went this year in August going back 2017 for 100 years anniversary.

Grandad was alot younger than his brother William he became an Engineer was excused service because off his skill when william was killed he always wanted to visit he died hhen I was about 9 Nanna when I was 19. My grandad had three daughters Gladys Florence and the youngest Marie my mum no one to carry on his family name when I was born was named John agter my Dad and Grandad and my middle name is Wright I am John Wright Smith just to carry name on my youngest daughter Aimée Lauren Wright

There was an article published in the Salford Reporter on the 17/11/1917 about William. I will try and get a picture of the article when I visit the library tomorrow evening as it may contain some additional information. The article I posted earlier was from the MEN.

William's medal index card shows that he arrived in France on the 8/11/1915 and was awarded the 1915 trio. I know my Grandads mother remarried after my great grandad died her name changed from Hannah Wright to Hindle And grandad had two sister called Gladys and Florence May They must have passed away young he called his two eldest daughters after them.
