Hi, the cap badge on the photo isn't Lancashire Fusiliers. I'm 99% certain it's a Manchester Regiment badge (I'd need to see a clearer image). Perhaps he enlisted in the Manchesters and then transferred to the LFs. Cheers Pete

492sue, Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting the picture. As Pete has already stated the cap badge does not appear to be that of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Thomas' service record, available on Ancestry, suggests that he only served with the LFs, so the cap badge is a bit of a mystery.

Oh that's a bit of a mystery then. I will go back to my mother and ask the question about the badge and get some more photos. I have sent a message to the person who gave you the letter which is from my great grandmother and just wanted to know where he got it from, is he actually related to me? Many thanks Sharon

Hi, the letter is in a file of his service records that is available on Ancestry. It list him as: Thomas Beddows Birth Date: abt 1896 Age at Enlistment: 19 Residence Place: 8 Knowles Square, Pendlebury Document Year: 1915 Regimental Number: 17565 Regiment Name: Lancashire Fusiliers, Salford Battalion
His medal card index does not show him been transferred to or from the Manchester regiment?
Ben
