Hi Nicole, Welcome to the forum. William, born on the 05/08/1884, was the son of William and Mary Jane Flitcroft. Using date of birth I think that he married Jane Brooks on the 23rd April, 1908. William and Jane are shown on the 1911 census as living with William's parents at 19 Park St, Swinton. The newspaper article reports that William enlisted in the Cyclist Corps and was subsequently transferred to the King's Liverpool Regiment (Service No: 86257). William's medal index card (Ancestry) only shows him serving with the Liverpool Regiment and shows that he was awarded the Victory and British War medals. It also shows that he was awarded a Silver War Badge, these were issued to soldiers who could no longer serve due to illness, injury, wounds, etc... William's Silver War Badge entry in the records. The International Red Cross has recently put their WW1 POW records on-line. I have found the following documents. Index card Captured at Cambrai on the 30/11/1917 held at Le Quesnoy 01 May 1918 to Dulman POW camp. To Stargard POW camp I hope this helps.
