Fallen men of Salford WW1 William Alexander Wilkinson born Manchester enlisted Salford, L/Corporal Lancashire Fusiliers 1/7th Battalion ,Died 26/5/17 CWG La Chapelette British and Indian Cemetery Age 23 son of William Edward and Alexina Mckenzie Wilkinson of Pendleton. From hell let loose. His parents lived at 17 Parsonage St Salford . He worked for Buckley & Brennand bleachers Seedley. He was a stretcher bearer and was fatally wounded whilst bringing in wounded soldiers . A memorial was held for him at the Irwell St Mission in June 1917 by the Rev H O Roberts. Wendy

Fallen men of Salford WW1 Samuel Eaton born Salford resident Salford enlisted Manchester , Corporal Manchester Regiment 16th Battalion ,Died 28/4/18 CWG Tyne Cot Memorial Samuel John Eaton Age 37 son of late Samuel John and Margaret Eaton ,husband of Elizabeth Eaton of 22 Percy St Pendleton From roll of the great war He was mobilised at the outbreak of war. He was severely injured at Ypres and was invalided home and discharged as medically unfit , but he rejoined in early 1916 ,he unhappily died at the Battle of Lys on 28/4/18. He held the Queen and Kings South Africa medals 22 Percy St Pendleton Wendy

Manchester Memorial. Charles Moroney is my best bet at the moment. Does anyone know of his employment prior to mobilisation? Enlisted 12/3/1908. Diesmbarked 22/8/1914. Married Mary Ellen Ashton Q2 1913, full name Charles Frederick George. I understand there may be an obit here Salford Advertiser/Salford Reporter entries: 28/11/14 Thanks Tim
