Of C Company , his wife Emily lived at 167 Water St Manchester, he worked for a firm in Water St. His parents lived at 158 Ordsall Lane , and he had 10 brothers and stepbrothers serving in HM Forces, 2 of whom are known to have died. Cpl William Unsworth ,9th LF was killed in action at Gallipoli on 21/8/15 aged 33, he had served in the South Africa War and lived with his wife Bella at 65 West Dixon St. Sgt Henry Unsworth was with the 1st Royal Munster Fusiliers in Gallipoli. Cpl Robert Unsworth was with the Royal Engineers in France. Cpl A Unsworth was with the 11th Manchesters at Gallipoli. Pvt Charles Unsworth was in the Royal Marines on HMS Lion. Stoker James Unsworth was on HMS Erin. The stepbrothers were L/Cpl Joseph Davies of the 12th Manchesters ,killed in action on 7/7/16. T Davies of 18th LF , John Davies and William Davies both of 23rd Manchester Regiment.

Aged 20 wasthe brother of Mrs Tabron of 16 Brunel St off Howard St . He went to Trafford Rd School attended St Ignatius Church and worked for Kemball Brothers tea merchants ,Withy Grove Manchester.
His sister received a letter of sympathy signed by L/sergeant Pollitt, J Buckley, A Evans, H Barker and J Slater.
"He was taking up a position with me to guard the retreat of his comrades , when a shell burst quite near him, a piece of shrapnel struck Will and he died instantly , suffering no pain.
Reverend Farnsworth who conduced the burial wrote " some comfort may be yours from the thought that some of his friends in the same Regiment carried him to his last resting place , covered with the Union Jack . Next to him lay 2 officers from the same Battalion killed by the same shell.

He was wounded on 31/5/15 and sent to hospital in Malta where he underwent three unsuccessful operations to remove a bullet from his hip. It was finally extracted seven months after he had been shot, but by that time septic poisoning had set in. He died on Monday tge 6th of March at Manchester Infirmary aged 29, and was buried with Military honours in Weaste Cemetery on 10th March. He was born in Carno Montgomery , lived with his wife and family at 9 Windsor Terrace Salford and attended Christ Church. He worked as a joiner for Gerrard & Sons of Swinton and had been in the Battalion since 1906.

Herbert was born in Swinton and lived with his parents at 16 Earl St Swinton . He had worked at the Clifton & Kearsley Coal Companys Outwood Colliery and had joined the Territorials in 1912.
