RE Bernard Firth. He's also remembered on the Roll of Honour and a photographic roll at Hawkshaw Lane Wesleyan Sunday School. His name is also on the bronze memorial plaque in the Chapel as well as being on the main marble parish memorial. He was killed in an attack on Longeuval with the Northumberland Fusiliers but his photo in the Salford, Bury and Bolton papers all show him with a West Yorkshire cap badge. During near 20 years of research have I managed to find any trace of him being in this Regiment. His widow Hilda died c1922 leaving five orphans - a number of who became missionaries. I was wondering does the 1902 marriage show where she was from because that's another mystery why the Firths moved to an isolated village north of Bury when Bernard had two brothers Harold and Wilfred who lived in Patricroft. I was wondering if I might obtain a picture of the Ufm memorial for my records please?

Gary do you think this could be the same Hilda on the 1901? @ 22 Worsley road, Winton. William Collett 26 Eda Collett 31 Lillian Collett 4 Alfred Collett 2 Hilda Law 20 Boarder Occupation: Cotton winder. Born Patricroft. As a boarder the owner of the property could have missed out her surname of Owen? Her wedding certificate should give her occupation, she married 1902. Ben
