Hi & welcome, just so we have something to work with. Can you give service number or date of birth or address at the time he served or if he survived or if married or next of kin?
Ben

Harley, Welcome to the forum. Just to let you and Ben know that he is on the AVL as with the 15th Lancashire Fusiliers, however the AVL should not be treated as gospel. Further research may nail the exact battalion down. Attachments:

Harley,
I cannot find James' SWB entry on Ancestry. The only other way I can think of finding out if he was wounded is to search the Salford Reporter microfilms held at the Salford Local History Library.

Brill, Ben.
Well found. As far as I am aware this still doesn't tell us if he was wounded or not. I will try and see if there was a mention in the SCR when I next visit the library.

Does anyone know what the number after "Par 392 xvi.K.R." under the Cause of Discharge column signifies? Is it an age?

Thanks Ben,
"Not fit" can mean a lot of things.
BTW To answer my own question; the number after "Par 392 xvi.K.R." is an age, it says that it is the "age on discharge" vertically at the top of the document.... sorry, long day.

I have never noticed that text at the top!! Glad to know that the age is on there, could prove useful!! I haven't looked yet (not had a chance) but I presume none of his service or pension records are on Ancestry??
