Steve, I have noticed that you have removed the letter that you asked me to post. Was this intentional? If not, would you like me to repost? Please repost, I mucked it all up by mistake. Thanks, Steve Here we go.

Thanks Garry for posting the letter for me. The 3rd. Paragraph is a joke! Widow/widower - that will be rare. Appeal No. 2 on its way.

Gentlemen, Received a reply "Appeal" regarding my late fathers' Service Record. Without going intomgreta detail; free for spouse or civil partner, there is no general waiver for those next of kin who do not meet this condition. Goes on to say how many records are searched and why there is a fee. They quoted the FOA 2000. They will not release these records without the fee of £30 -end of story. This time I am defeated!!. The third and last Appeal more or less says the same.

Steve,
Many thanks for the update and your persistence. If nothing else, it has given any readers of the forum a clear indication as to the MOD's policy on this matter.
Are you going to splash out the £30.00?

Garry, Going on my list of "payable records" - so far £130. Bit by bit I'll get 'em all.

Sorry to read that Steve. Not the outcome I was hoping for for you.
