salford soldiers paid a heavy price in the battle of the somme,but it cost them dearly at gallipoli as well,at least 500 salford soldiers fell in the fighting on the peninsular.

Yes my 1st cousin 1x removed died on the 6/5/1915, he was reported missing until aug 1916 then it was reported he had died, His name was Edward Patrick Carey (Eddie Carey), I would be glad to hear from anybody related to him. smithy1948

Hi mack,
Just recently found out that one of my granddads ( Salford born) lost a leg whilst fighting at Gallipoli. I suppose he could be described as one of the lucky ones.
