Walter Pearson. The inscription reads "killed in action 23rd September 1918" but I can't find him on the CWGC. Pete, I am quite sure that this is Walter: Name: PEARSON Initials: W Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment/Service: Durham Light Infantry Unit Text: 1st/5th Bn. Date of Death: 17/09/1918 Service No: 245359 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: II. L. 10. Cemetery: GLAGEON COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION Birth Place: Moorside, Lancs Death Location: France & Flanders Enlistment Location: Manchester Type of Casualty: Died of wounds Theatre of War: Western European Theatre Comments: Formerly 37149, Manchester Regt. The two obvious differences are the date of death and the fact that SDGW states died of wounds and the grave indicates killed in action. Those differences aside here is how I have linked Walter to Nellie and Edward. There is a incomplete service record for Private Walter Pearson originally with the Manchester Regiment numbered 37149 shown as living at 108 Roe Green, Worsley. The service record also shows his next of kin as William Edward also living at the same address. In the 1911 census Walter and William Edward are living at 109 Roe Green, Worsley with their Uncle and Aunt Thomas & Eleanor Hill (this makes sense as Walter's parents have both died as per the grave dates). Thomas Hill married Eleanor Pearson at the Barton Registry Office in 1895. Eleanor Pearson is shown to be Edward Pearson's younger sister on the 1881 census. This is why I believe that this is the correct Walter. I hope I have explained this clearly.
