I was wondering if anyone could offer any help or suggestions with researching this man as I feel I'm at a bit of a brick wall regarding his service in WW1. Thomas WALLACE was born March 26th 1890 in Eastwood, Renfrewshire. He married Agnes McArthur Wilson on 28th September 1915 and on the marriage certificate it states he is a Private with the 16th battalion HLI. I have a collection of certificates which involve this man - birth, marriage, son's birth and son's marriage and there is a slight variant on his name between Thomas Wright Wallace and Thomas William Wallace. He was a denitist and after the war he brought up his family in the North Yorkshire area (Northallerton, Loftus etc) though having traced the family it is very strongly Scottish and only comes over the border into England in 1920/21. I have found a MIC for a Thomas W Wallace, 16th battalion, HLI, reg number 14805 which shows service in France, awarded the trio of medals and went from Private to Lance Corporal...could this be my man
