has the churchyard been grassed over,the WW1 servicemen buried in the churchyard have special memorials,but the serviceman from WW2 doesnt

hiya debs it usually means that they dont know the exact location of the grave in the cemetery,sometimes they erect them when the cemetery has been grassed over

So anybody with a CWGC Stone, is buried where or near to that headstone?? I was always under the impression they were erected as a memorial stone rather than an actual headstone, shows you how much I know lol I will make some enquiries at St Thomas's re if theres is grassed over or not

the CWGC special memorial stones are the same as the normal headstones,except that they have "believed to be buried in this cemetery"carved on them,they usually place them near the boundary wall,these are the only stones where the soldier is not buried beneath them
