Hello all, I am looking for the bronze plaque that was situated in Derby Hall, Pendlebury Road, in Swinton that held the names of employees fallen in both World Wars. When Fairclough Building vacated the premises in the 1980's the plaque was removed. Can anybody shed any light on by whom it was removed and where was it 'stored'. Thanks David.

Welcome David1952,
We have not seen, nor heard off, this memorial before. A quick search of the internet would suggest that the company Gerrards of Swinton, and, later, Fairclough Building operated from Derby Hall. The only Fairclough Building Limited trading today was established in 2008 so will probably have no connection with the company located at Derby Hall. I do not recall ever reading anything in the local press (1918 - 1921). Do you have any clues as to when the memorials were unveiled?

Thanks to David1952 who sent these images. We will try and find out what happened to the original plaque.
