Dedicated in 1950 to those who lost their lives in the 1914 - 18 and 1939 - 45 wars. The memorial originally had a bronze plaque attached bearing the inscription "1914 - 18" and "1939 - 45" on each side of the Worsley Urban District crest, and underneath, "Erected to the memory of all those residents of the Worsley Urban area who made the supreme sacrifice. Greater love hath no man than this." Nothing is known as to the present location of the plaque. The Memorial Garden today. Sometime ago we had been informed that the Friends of Parr Fold were looking for funds to spend on the Memorial Garden.

It would seem that the Friends group are making some progress. Found on their facebook page linkThe Friends of Parr Fold Park are now making good progress with our aim to get a memorial plaque reinstated in the Garden of Remembrance. The garden was constructed in 1950 in memory of the residents of Worsley who lost their lives during the two world war's. There has been no referral, on site, to this being a Garden of Remembrance for many years and it has been the groups aim from our inception to recognise the sacrifice that these men made. For a long time now it seems to have been a mystery as to what happened to the original plaque and many people have tried to find out over the years. Hey Presto! We now have a copy of the original plaque, which is not fit for purpose, but it's a starting point for us. Many thanks to Mark Watson of Salford City Council who found this in storage. We are now on a mission to get costings and funding to get a new plaque in place! If anyone has a photo of the garden with the original plaque in place, we would be very grateful if you would share it with us. Many thanks Diane and Michele. This is the size and inscription of the original plaque in The Garden of Remembrance.
