Thanks for posting.
The picture shows that Edward was serving with the Royal Engineers when the picture was taken. The cap badge, whilst not clear, looks like that of the Royal Engineers, the clincher being the shoulder title which clearly reads "R E".
The birth certificate is a copy, dated Sept 1929, of the original which would have been issued in 1915.
I was going to attach a couple of images but the site is down for maintenance at the moment. I will post later.

Hi Shred Would my granddad be on a Royal Engineers roll of honour as well as being in the Lancashire Fusiliers? The certificate was for employment purposes for some reason he did have a birth certificate which unfortunately disintigrated, that was a 1915 one, that confused me as to why they would then need this blue one, do you think maybe because he was 14yrs that they needed more information?

I do not know of any Royal Engineers' Roll of Honour.
Yes, I agree that the replacement birth certificate was probably needed for the purposes of gaining employment (school leaving age was 14 at this time).
