First of all i am not sure where this should be posted, so please feel free to move this thread. This is a really sad story of the horrors & fears of war on a man. 1901 at 2 Primrose street, Lower Broughton. Alfred E Settle 37 Head Joiner Charlotte Settle 37 Wife Lottie Settle 14 William G Settle 11 Alfred E Settle 9 Florence Settle 5 1911 at 74 Gt Clowes street, Lower Broughton Alfred Edward Settle 47 Head Joiner Charlotte Settle 47 Wife Lottie Settle 24 Lady Clerk William Gerrard Settle 21 Clerk Alfred Edward Settle 19 Chemists Assistant Mary Florence Settle 15 Office Girl 1918 absent voters register for Salford North division. I see from his medal card index that he was awarded the British & Victory medal. Could a member of staff please transcribe the other details on the medal card Married Hilda Wilson 1930. There is one grave in Weaste cemetery with a total of 5 people in it, maybe this is the family grave? link for Cemsearch Weaste cemeteryHilda Settle ne Wilson went on to marry John Joseph Axon at St. Mary, Crumpsall in 1952. Ben,
Looks as if the medals had been posted out to Alfred and he had moved from the last known address the army had on his records. The medals would be then be broken down if not claimed within ten years (1743KR). Thankfully the medals were claimed and reissued to a him on the 30/8/1923.
