Rowland is my great grand uncle he was born 1894 in Pendleton Salford his father and mother was Thomas and Jane Murphy He served with the 8th Battalion of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action on 9th April 1917 and is buried in the Tilloy British Cemetery at Tilloy-les-Mofflaines in France.Plot IV.G.13 He recived the The Victory and the British Medals.

The memorial is currently on display in the Salford Museum.
There was an article printed about Rowland in the Salford Reporter on the 09/06/1917. I will try and get a copy in the New Year.

Rowland is also remembered on the family grave in Weaste Cemetery.
