Hi folks, just a quickie to say hello. My interest is in the memorial from the now demolished St Stephens Church, on it was the name of my wifes grandfather, L/cpl Albert Tommins k.i.a. in 1918. Does anyone know where it now resides. Ta Peter aka oppy

Thank you Ben for the welcome and the information too. I was wondering if the white stone memorial that was outside the church had been re-located. My wife's grandfather was born in Islington and attended St Stephens. When the church was due to be demolished the family was presented with a memorial plaque that was attached to the alter. This is now in the Museum Of The Manchesters in Ashton.

Hi Peter, Welcome to the forums. The St Stephen's memorial is safely ensconced in St Philip's Church, Salford. Link
