German Prisoners in IrlamMush curiosity was aroused in the district last week by a large gang of German prisoners from the internment camp at Leigh commencing work in the locality. They are being conveyed to and from Leigh by special train, under strong escort. Their departure on Wednesday night was witnessed by a large crowd of people. There were some smart looking men amongst the German prisoners, and many who had passed middle life. The majority of them seemed quite happy, and the remark was frequently overheard that they hoped British prisoners were not receiving any worse treatment.
