I have information about James Taylor who was killed in WW1 from my own family sources and from this site, but I am told that there is a discrepancy. This is the uniform of a Private of the King's own Regiment. Does this mean he cannot be the James of the rifle brigade that Mack gives details for: 3060 james taylor[known as jim] 8th rifle brigade enlisted 1-9-14 aged 20 occupation, labourer 7 irwell terrace, salford mother, margaret killed in action,30-7-15 on 3-10-15,the officer commanding the 1st royal fusiliers reported that his men had found+buried jim,and sent his ID disc to his mother, she wrote and asked for a picture of his grave, the location of his grave is unknown, probably lost in the heavy fighting at ypres.
His sister, my Nana told me he was born Dec 16th (I think 1994) and "died in war Dec 17th." I wrote it down when she said it. The address is right and mother's name though. It's possible that this is the day they had his ID disc returned I suppose. As for the uniform discrepancy it's possible that the family have assumed this was Jim. I don't think my Nana ever showed me this photo when she was alive, so unless my Grandpa accurately identified it, it may not be him at all. In which case... WHO IS THIS SOLDIER...Jim's brother?..William, Alfred or Frederick? Or even a lost love of my Nana's?...

eaglei, I would post the image, along with as much information as you have, on the Great War Forum. There will be an expert, or two, who may be able to help you. Did you receive the email that we sent?
