These two WW1 war memorials are currently safely stored in a building in Salford, we would like to help find an appropriate place for the memorials to be sited. We currently cannot find any connection to Salford. The first memorial is to the Staff of Liverpool & Martins Limited.

We are struggling to discover where the second memorial is from (could be Manchester). A number of searches on the men named suggest it was from a bank. If you can help identify where either memorial were originally sited or can suggest an appropriate place for the memorials to be displayed please let us know.

Hi Gary, with the fist memorial as the Liverpool & Martins Limited was acquired/merged with the Barclays bank group, why not get in touch with them? The second one, you could try contacting RSB archives to see if they can help with identifying where the memorial came from? I have had some great help from the RBS in the past. I now believe that the second memorial is from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank which was amalgamated with Liverpool and Martins Limited in 1928.

Hi Garry, I'm on holiday at the moment and reading the post on my phone. I can't read the names. Is there a Thomas Teare on the first memorial? He worked at the Cadishead branch of the bank and lived in Flixton. He was killed at Gallipoli (see District at War for further info).
Cheers Pete
