Thanks Guys. For some reason, I didn't get this last year (but then I had computer issues). Got this post right away though, including last year's, in the the thread. Really excited as we often wondered what he looked liked. I've been researching the family history for over 20 years now. My eldest daughter wrote and directed a puppet production at Uni, all about Peter's life. She will be pleased too.
The newspaper clip announcing his death is interesting: I always wondered why everyone said he was killed in France, when (as I found out), he was killed in Belgium - Passchendaele.
Where is the original image - is it from Newspaper archives? I'd love to have that digitally enhanced and printed.
All the best Shred and Ben.

Gary, The article was found in the MEN. If you are looking for the best quality image you would need to visit the National Newspaper Building at Boston Spa, West Yorkshire (used to be Colindale). link

Gary,
I think we have been in touch before. My name is Steve Hardicre and I'm great grand-nephew to Peter Tighe. His sister was Mary Alice Tighe (b. 1902). She had an illegitimate daughter in 1923, Alma Tighe, who was my grandmother. We have the adoption papers from Manchester Children's court and I've spent 20 years trying to prove the Mary Alice Tighe named on the papers is the same one as was born in 1902 to Peter and Elizabeth Tighe.
I have now managed to exclude very other possibility and so I am convinced I have the correct family. I have, therefore, added Peter and the family to my tree. I have information about the Tighe family, but I'm sure you already have it. If not, please feel free to contact me again.
Do you know if Peter was the only Tighe to fight? I'd be really interested in the work your daughter has carried out.
Steve Hardicre
