Hi Folks, Have a problem, I cannot resolve ,in finding Military Records pre-1907:-
Charles William Carter Madden Medlicott b. 1838 - Cawnpore, India (Brit.Sub) d.1907 - Hannover Sq.London married in 1873 my ancestor Agnes Elizabeth Boler
1861 - Ass.Medical Officer County Lunatic Asylum, Wells, Somerset 1881 - Ass.MedicalOfficer somerset & Bath Lunatic Asylum
Found a note on a tree which states:- M.D. Lieutenant RCSI (presume this means medical doctor RoyalCollege of Surgeons) Now the name "Carter" was his fathers surname and "Madden" was his mothers' surname. Where the surname "Medlicott" came from, have no idea
Going by the "Lieutentent" I presume he must have served in the military at some point. Cannot see anything on the Boer. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Sorry to be long-winded, but put a picture together if it helps.
Thanks,
Steve

Could he have started out as a ship's surgeon in the Navy, rather than army service? I'm not so well up on pre-WWI military.
Sent from my Sony LT30p Xperia T smartphone using the Proboards app for Android.
