Hello,
In the Methodist Church on Manchester Road in Swinton, there is a WW1 memorial plaque on the wall, (inside the church.) I haven't managed to get a photo yet, but will do when it is convenient. But i made a note of the names that are on it:
Men of this Church
C.P. Booth J. Beswick J. Goring B. Healey H. Booth T. Jones A. Stainsby F. Salt W. Sumbland. J.P. Pearson
Alison.

Thank you Alison. That would be a fantastic addition. I'll add the names to our under-construction database.

I don't think Joseph Palister Pearson is your man. He was living in Lynthorpe Avenue, Cadishead and working as a labourer when he enlisted on 9th November 1915. He first served overseas with the 23rd Manchesters and was wounded on the Somme in July 1916.
Hope this helps Pete

Thanks for the pictures, its great to be able to see what they looked like. I don't suppose you could post them again, but a little bigger? its just that i have tried to save them out but they are quite small. Where do you get these pictures from? did all men who served in WW1 have there picture took, as i have other ancestors who died in the first war, and i have never seen a picture of them, they were from Manchester. Thanks again for the pictures...they are great Alison.

Alison, The pictures can be found in the Eccles Journal Roll of Honour which can be downloaded from our website www.salfordwarmemorials.co.uk/resources.htmllinkIf the men were featured in the Roll of Honour then there would also be an article published in the Journal. You are lucky as the men inscribed on the Manchester Road Methodist Memorial are featured in the Eccles Journal, which also covered Swinton, which printed pictures of the men. The Salford City Reporter rarely printed pictures of the men.

Hello, Here are a couple of photo's from Manchester Rd Methodist. I had made a slight error with one of the names! the last name...instead of J.P Pearson, it should be J. R. Pearson, from afar it did look like a P Alison.
