Joseph Lister V.C 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers Medal Roll 8133 Born 19/10/89 at 65 Fenney St Higher Broughton Died 19/1/63 Reddish Stockport
Deed 9/10/17 When the advance of his company washeld up by machine gun fire , from the direction of a Pill box, he rushed forward ahead of his men , located the gun , killed 2 of the gunners and the remainder surrendered. On reaching the Pill box , he called on the Garrison to surrender, which they did with the exception of 1 man who he shot. Whereupon almost 100 Germans surrendered as they emerged from nearby shell holes.
