sgt 44668 william roberts. 1/6th manchesters originally 17734 lancs fusiliers[pals] collier enlisted 8-3-15 aged 20 11 queen st,irlam o heights slightly gassed 2-7-16 transferred to 18th manchesters 24-10-16 accidentally wounded 29-1-17 posted to 1/6th manchesters 7-4-18 wounded 2-9-18 DCM awarded for actions on 21st-24th august 1918,bar gazetted 5-12-18
theres a photo of sgt roberts in his hospital blues in the manchester regt archives,it was published in john hartleys book about the 6th manchesters

his card incorrectly states he was awarded a bar to the DCM,he was awarded MM gazetted 12-3-17 and a bar on 4-2-18

L/cpl 1045 william,arthur senior 1/6th manchesters[B.coy] 280 lower broughton rd,salford salesman for j+n phillips reported missing on 5th june 1915 later turned up with a bullet wound in his shin[slight]he was invalided to malta on the hospital ship ivernia and admitted to st.georges hospital on 9th june,after recovering,he returned to gallipoli and wounded in the knee and shoulder on 7th august,he was evacuated to the 15 stationary hospital on mudros and then invalided home on the hospital ship franconia and admitted to the 4th southern gen hospital,plymouth on 8th september DCM awarded for his actions on 4th june 1915 he was also MID by the GOC the MEF on 22-9-15 he was told that his brother,pte 758 james,kneale senior was killed in action on the 4th june family moved to 95 camp st,lower broughton

I have started a spreadsheet for these cards. If anyone wishes to help they can edit the document here.
To edit the document a gmail account is required and you will need to install a free app called Nexus with Libreoffice, this will allow you to edit the document online. If you require any help in doing this please let me know.
Ben and I are going to get this done between us. A copy will be made available to members and the Salford Local History Library.
