hiya gary. the reason for my enquiry about briggs streets location, was because pte 9873 alfred hunt lived at 16 briggs st,his family were still living there after the war, alfred was killed on 30th july 1916,his mother got the NOK sheet signed by the rev THOMAS JUKES,if briggs st wasnt near the heights, why would his mum go to that particular church to get the NOK signed, unless alfred was a member and got missed off this memorial.

Mack,
You must have a good memory to link Alfred to the church by the Revd Thomas Dukes.
Firstly; I am not totally sure that there was only one Briggs Street in Salford, there may have been one closer to the Height. Secondly; The family may have been known better in that area having lived there when Alfred was a younger boy. Either way it is a shame that his name was never recorded on the memorial. I will see if I can find a link other than the one you have already made.

BTW, It has been confirmed that this memorial has now been released by the library for collection. I have not been informed when or whether it has been collected yet.

Mack, Lewis is named as his brother in his records living at Briggs St. Alfred was adopted as this 1901 census record shows. The family may have known where he was adopted and approached a minister who knew Alfred and his history, and connection, with his new family. Attachments:

The 1891 census gives his name as Taylor. Your research looks spot on.
Cheers
